Youth Programs

CMS Youth Programs use hands-on activities to help at-risk young people develop their individual talents and creative gifts.

Vacation Bible School provides urban kids with the opportunity to learn about God’s love while enjoying the arts, music and each other.

Youth Arts connects working artists and poets with hundreds of high-risk Boston school children to help develop their self-esteem and discover the joys of creativity through the arts.

One personal success story: Ten-year-old Jim did not want to attend Bible School. He was certain he would be bullied just like he always is when kids first meet him. Frequently the target of jokes because he wears special eyeglasses because of an eye disease, Jim was convinced he would be teased. But with special attention and affirmation from the volunteers and artists, Jim joined in activities and by the end of the second day he left with a smile on his face. Not only did Jim have perfect attendance, he excelled in his art work and flourished in an environment where children were expected to treat one another with love and respect.

"This is the first time I have seen my son have fun and come out of his shell. I am truly thankful for this wonderful program because people here care about children. I will always be grateful for this."
