Behind the Wall/
Detras de la Pared

Behind the Wall/Detras de la Pared is a bi-lingual publication evolved from CMS’s work with inmates in the prisons. Those who contributed say with pride that it is “by the inmates, for the inmates.” Behind the Wall responds to the inmates’ interest in more information geared to their situation as well as their desire for skills that help them develop their own voice and writing skills. The women of MCI/Framingham work with a CMS volunteer to write articles and poems that reflect their interest in news, commentary and health. Recent editions have included poetry and articles on the dangers of obesity, what’s happening within the prison to fight breast cancer, the pros and cons of DNA testing, coping with mental illness and parenting skills. Behind the Wall prides itself on its strong self-help perspective and is always a much-anticipated publication.
