Homelessness
Prevention
The Emergency Needs Network (ENN) assists some of Greater Boston’s most vulnerable individuals and families who are in crisis due to illness, unemployment, low income, or sudden emergencies. This program utilizes early intervention and flexible support. Financial assistance in order to resolve an immediate problem may be given once pending further agency referral. Information, referral and advocacy will be given to assist all clients in identifying resources and obtain services which may provide long term assistance when needed. While we offer direct assistance to metropolitan Boston’s neediest people, City Mission Society also works in concert with a network of community-based agencies to strengthen and inform our referral process. A Lift Up serves female-headed households, providing flexible funding and up to a year of case management to assure that they remain in stable housing and to support them on the path to economic self-sufficiency. To learn more about this program please contact ENN Director Alison Coleman-Hardy, LICSW.City Mission Society has three focus areas for its programming:Homelessness Prevention, Youth Peace Promotion, and Faith and Community. While addressing distinct issues, the three focus areas overlap to form a coherent whole.
Through its Homelessness Prevention focus area, CMS devotes resources to identifying and assisting families and individuals who are struggling to maintain housing. City Mission Society believes it is far more caring and cost-effective to alleviate an unstable financial situation before a family loses their home.
